The Philadelphia 76ers, most known as the Sixers, are an American professional basketball team based in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.The Philadelphia 76ers, established in 1939 as the Syracuse Nationals, are one of the NBA's oldest and most historic franchises. After relocating to Philadelphia in 1963, the team adopted its current name to honor the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence. Over their storied history, the Sixers have won three NBA championships (1955, 1967, and 1983) and have been home to legendary Hall of Famers such as Wilt Chamberlain, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Moses Malone, and Allen Iverson.

In the 2025–26 season, the 76ers are competing in the Atlantic Division and currently hold a 33–27 record, placing them 6th in the Eastern Conference as of March 2026. The team is led by a "Big Three" featuring former MVP Joel Embiid, nine-time All-Star Paul George, and rising star Tyrese Maxey, who was named an All-Star starter for the first time this season. While they currently play their home games at Xfinity Mobile Arena (formerly Wells Fargo Center), the organization recently announced a joint venture to build a new $1.3 billion state-of-the-art arena in South Philadelphia, targeted for completion by 2030.
